TKL stands for tenkeyless. These boards keep the function row and arrow cluster but drop the numpad, which is the right trade-off for most gamers and a lot of office buyers who don't enter numbers all day.
Why TKL
These cover the main TKL buyer profiles: hot-swap enthusiast, custom kit, low-profile wireless, hall-effect gaming, mainstream gaming, and budget.

Buy KeycapsQuick advice
If you're optimizing for FPS gaming, get a TKL with HE or rapid trigger — Apex Pro TKL or Huntsman V3 Pro TKL are the top picks. If you want 8000 Hz polling on a budget and don't need adjustable actuation, the wired Keychron C1 Pro 8K covers it for much less. For office work, prioritize switch feel and acoustics over extra software features. The KBDFans Tofu TKL fits better there.
If you need a numpad, look at full-size or 96% boards instead — a TKL won't grow into a numpad layout — or add a separate number pad like the Keychron K0 Max (slim and wireless) or the Keychron Q0 HE (aluminum, magnetic switches). Our keyboard sizes guide lays out what each size keeps and drops.
