Keycap hub

Keycaps

Keycaps are the cheapest, fastest way to change how a mechanical keyboard looks, feels, and sounds. This hub covers every major profile, material, and aesthetic so you can find the right set for your board.

Three things matter most when picking keycaps: material, profile, and compatibility.

  • Material: PBT lasts longer; ABS is smoother.
  • Profile: Cherry is short and sculpted; XDA is flat and uniform.
  • Compatibility: Confirm the set covers your layout (60%, 75%, TKL, full size).

Quick advice

For most buyers, start with a PBT Cherry-profile set.

PBT outlasts ABS and resists shine. Cherry profile is the most-tested keycap shape and pairs well with almost any board. Compare the strongest PBT keycap sets if you're not sure where to start — PBTfans 9009 is the safest first pick. If you'd rather keep the exact profile your board shipped with, an OEM keycap set is the truest drop-in swap.

Once you know what you like, branch into XDA for flat minimalism or the even flatter DSA & uniform profiles, MT3 for deeper sculpting, the tall retro SA-family profiles, or pudding and jelly keycaps for RGB glow — see the full range of shine-through keycaps if your board's lighting is part of the look. Go bold with a color set like purple keycaps, theme it with Japanese keycaps, soften it with cute keycaps, or add a single artisan keycap — or a machined metal keycap — for personality without recapping the whole board.
